Performance reporting and
accountability for national reform
Under the National Partnership on the Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan, each State and Territory has agreed targets for the number of elective surgery volume admissions over three reporting periods.
States and Territories are eligible for reward payments made by the Commonwealth if they meet their targets. The council's role is to provide the Commonwealth with an independent assessment of the achievement of the agreed targets.
This is the council's third and final report on the National Partnership on the Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan.
This report was submitted to COAG on 8 August 2011, and publicly released on 6 September 2011.
This is the council’s second report on the National Partnership Agreement on Essential Vaccines. The council has assessed the performance of all States and Territories against four benchmarks based on maintaining, and, where possible, improving immunisation coverage rates.

On 8 December 2010, the Prime Minister and the Commonwealth Minister for Health announced that the Commonwealth would allocate a total of $108 million in reward payments—the full amount available—to States and Territories for exceeding their targets to increase elective surgery operations under Periods 1 and 2 of this National Partnership.

The COAG Reform Council’s National Healthcare Agreement: Baseline performance report for 2008 - 09 is an assessment of the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments against the National Healthcare Agreement’s seven objectives—prevention, primary and community care, hospital care, aged care, patient experience, social inclusion and Indigenous health, and health system sustainability.
This report was submitted to COAG on 30 April 2010, and publicly released on 4 June 2010.
